ORION FLIGHT SOFTWARE - DEVELOPMENT AND VERIFICATION
Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor building NASA's Orion, the only spacecraft designed for long-duration, human deep space exploration. Orion will transport astronauts to interplanetary destinations beyond low Earth orbit, such as the Moon and eventually Mars, and return them safely back to Earth. Our staff is heavily involved in both the development and verification of the on-board flight software that will control and operate the vehicle during flight. Support ranges from requirements analysis and traceability; test design, development and execution; overall verification strategy and technical leadership; customer interface and briefings; tool and process improvement; as well as programmatic support to management.
gateway - lunar orbiting platform
NASA is planning a deep-space habitat orbiting the moon called the Lunar Orbiting Platform Gateway, as the future destination for astronauts. The lunar space station will be a launching point for future missions to the moon and beyond. The program is in its early stages of planning and development and our team is providing programmatic support, including development of processes, plans, and strategy for our NASA customer.
